How to catch every fish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The Critterpedia has 80 fish, and some appear only a few hours a day, a few months a year, in one specific spot. Completing it is less about luck and more about knowing exactly what is catchable right now.
01Fish by season, not by mood
Every month some fish arrive and others leave. Month boundaries are the deadline: check what disappears after this month and prioritise those before casually farming year-round species.
02Learn the special spawn spots
River mouths, clifftop rivers, ponds, pier and sea are distinct spawn pools. Stringfish only spawn on clifftops; sturgeon at river mouths. Fishing the wrong water wastes the whole time window.
03Read the shadow before you cast
Shadow size narrows the candidates instantly — a tiny shadow in a river can only be a handful of species. Skip shadows that cannot be what you are hunting.
