What is RSVP reading and does it work?

RSVP — Rapid Serial Visual Presentation — flashes text one word at a time in a fixed position. It removes the physical bottleneck of reading: moving your eyes across lines and, crucially, back over them.

01The bottleneck is eye movement, not comprehension

In normal reading your eyes jump (saccade), fixate, and frequently regress to reread earlier words. Those regressions consume up to a third of reading time while adding little understanding.

02RSVP fixes the eyes in one spot

With words arriving at a fixed point, saccades and regressions disappear entirely. Your reading rate becomes exactly the presentation rate — adjustable, trainable, and typically far above your line-reading pace.

03The anchor point does the alignment

Well-implemented RSVP highlights an optimal recognition point slightly left of each word's center, so every word lands pre-aligned with where your eye already is.

How Anchor does this for you

Anchor is a purpose-built RSVP reader: one word at a time, a highlighted anchor letter keeping your eyes centered, and a WPM dial to set the exact pace. Any pasted or imported text becomes a guided session.
